CSO - Department Workshop on Data Priorities & Opportunities

Paul Morrin, Assistant Director General, CSO co-chaired a National Data Infrastructure (NDI) workshop with the Department of Finance on Thursday 1st May.

The idea behind the workshop was to get a deeper understanding of the department’s priority areas while sharing insights from CSO initiatives. Pamela Lafferty and Rob Kelly presented on the opportunities created through the NDI including through Virtual Data Rooms and Pathfinder projects. Following this, Cormac Halpin and Gillian Roche represented the CSO in the panel discussion, along with John McCarthy, Chief Economist, Economic Division, and Clare Costello, Assistant Secretary, Domestic and Indirect Tax Policy Division in the department, where the discussion focused on identifying opportunities for further collaboration.

The feedback from the department was very positive with their speakers highlighting the strong working relationships in place with the CSO as well as the crucial role of our outputs in helping inform policy decisions. A number of follow up actions were agreed on the day to further advance the delivery of the NDI and build further relationships.
