National Data Analyst Network (NDAN) Conference, Dublin Castle

The inaugural in-person conference of the NDAN, previously known as the FSLG, was held at Dublin Castle last Tuesday. Over 40 Public Sector Bodies were represented, with a total of 140 attendees. The event commenced with an opening address by Paul Morrin, ADG Statistical Systems Coordination, and was chaired by Pamela Lafferty, Head of the Administrative Data Centre.

Pamela introduced the new structure of the Network and the programme of work for the year. This was followed by presentations under the 3 pillars of the network:

Communication Pillar

Census 2022 results and update on preparations for Census 2027

- Eileen Murphy (CSO)

Collaboration Pillar

Collaboration - An exploration of the preliminary work for the National Disability Survey

- Fiona O’Riordan (CSO) in place of Nicola Tickner (DCEDIY)

Capacity Pillar

One Stop Shop for AI and Machine Learning for Official Statistics

- Eimear Crowley (CSO)

Use of AI in the Irish Coast Guard

- Sorcha O’Callaghan (DoT)

Lunch was followed by a workshop on Public Sector Data Literacy - Identifying Key Gaps and Opportunities.
